How to reach Olive Tree Hill B&B in Zagarolo with car

Zagarolo is located just outside Rome (south-east area) at the bottom of Castelli Romani (the wine area of Rome) and is obviously rich in wineyards and Olive groves.

Easy to reach by car because near to the exit of 2 highways connecting different parts of the country and the “bretella” (sort of bypass that avoid to transit on the busy ring road of Rome).

Olive Tree Hill B&B aka “Colle degli Ulivi” is located 15 min. walking from the medioeval town and the train station. A free shuttle to/from the train station is available for our guests

As main South/East gateway of Rome, once you arrive at Olive Tree Hill B&B you will not need a car to visit Rome.

You can leave your car in our free parking area.

We will provide you a free shuttle to/from the local train station (just minutes walking).

This will make your life much easier and allow you to avoid traffic, stress, parking fees, etc.

Getting to Us By Car: Driving Directions to Zagarolo

If traveling on the A1 from the North, to avoid the busy “GRA” (Rome ring road), follow the sign to “Rome Sud” (Rome south), exit to San Cesareo and follow the sign to Zagarolo.

If traveling on the A1 from the South, Rome or airports, exit to San Cesareo and follow the sign to Zagarolo.

If traveling on the A24 from east, exit to Tivoli and follow the sign to Zagarolo.

If you are driving using a GPS, input the following coordinates and not the address. This is a better way to reach us than putting the address into your GPS. Due to the introduction of new roads, some GPS get confused and could send you to the wrong spot. This solution should avoid a waste of your time.

Access to our property can be from two different dirt internal roads on Via Colle Palazzola.

If staying at the cottage reach number 36 locate on a dirt internal road starting between numbers 34 and 40

If staying at the rooms reach number 48 locate on a dirt internal road starting between numbers 44 and 56

If you are travelling by cruise ship, you will most likely be landing in Civitavecchia and your boat will moor, for security reasons, in a restricted area.

Travelling by train from Civitavecchia to Rome.

You can also reach Zagarolo by train. This solution will be much cheaper and not particularly difficoult, if travelling light.
The ride itself take about an hour+stand by time. Enemy, in this case, will be not distance (about 15 min. walking) or difficoults but luggages.

The ticket counter is at the train station. You can also buy your tickets at the bars and newspaper kiosks in or around the train station.

The best ticket to buy is the B.I.R.G.
It  will allow you to have unlimited access to regional trains, underground and buses in Rome, until midnight of validation day.
The same train ticket is valid to reach Zagarolo. Make sure you get a 3 zone BIRG ticket. It will cover all the zones you are passing through.
Don’t forget to write your name on the ticket and validate it in the machines in the train terminal at departure (no more validations are required).

Be aware that the train from Civitavecchia may arrive in Termini at a slightly detached section of train track (from 27 to 30).
From there you need about 10 min walking to reach the main tracks section.

How to reach Olive Tree Hill B&B in Zagarolo by train

In Italy, travelling by train, is quite easy, cheap and comfortable.

You can find more information regarding Rome metro tickets and the transportation system that connect Rome with its Province at our Getting Around Rome – Transportation and ticket system page.

Being the main southern east gateway of Rome, Zagarolo is particularly well connected by train, by buses and by car (free and toll roads).

There are frequent trains traveling from Termini (Rome Central train station) to Zagarolo. In about 30 minutes you will be welcomed at Olive Tree Hill (aka “Il Colle degli Ulivi”).
Zagarolo, located just outside Rome, is on the route of trains with final destination to:

  • Cassino
  • Frosinone
  • Caserta
  • Colleferro

Note: A few of the trains with on the above final destinations will not stop in Zagarolo (10%).
Please make sure Zagarolo is mentioned on the general digital deprature diplay or at the small display you’ll find at the beginning of the track.
If not traveling from the above destinations, to reach Zagarolo by train, you’ll need to first get to Termini Station (the Central train station in Rome).
Once you decide which train you’ll catch, please call or text us your departing time and we will come to pick you up at Zagarolo train station.

In case of text, we always confirm that we received the text with “OK”. If you don’t receive an “OK” message, please call in case we did not receive your message.

Train tickets from Termini to Zagarolo are available at ticket office or automatic machines that you’ll find at the station, but will be quicker and easier to buy them at any newspaper kiosks or bars you’ll find at the station.
If you are asking for a ticket from a bar or newspaper kiosk, ask for a 40 Km. ticket.

Wondering how to reach Olive Tree Hill – B&B just outside Rome, from the airport?  It’s easy!

In Rome there are two main airports:

Leonardo da Vinci (FCO) is the main airport.
Used for National/International/Intercontinental and Charter flights, is located in Fiumicino (40 km. from Rome city center and 55km. from our B&B)

G.P.Pastine (CIA) is the second largest airport.
Used to be a military airport, nowday mainly used by European low cost companies, is located in Ciampino (15km. from Rome city center and 30km. from our B&B).
